New Kala Ukuleles for 2012 Part 4 – Solid Spruce & Rosewood Ukulele Series

Solid Spruce Top, Rosewood Back & Sides – New for 2012 by Kala

£139.99 – £206.99  Arriving June 2012

The little babies are so new that we havent got any photos yet! A quick google search did find me some photos though from an American music shop.  As they are their own photos we aren’t able to use them.  As you will know we do take some great picture ourselves of the products so as soon as they arrive here we will post them up  and put them out on Twitter and Facebook so don’t forget to follow us.

Using spruce and rosewood together is not uncommon in high-end guitars, the combination of loud bright and strong tones from the spruce and long crisp sustains from the rosewood make it ideal.  So…..in theory this should carry over to the ukulele.  If you have seen the Kala spruce and mahogany series then you will know about the power these ukuleles have.  Using a rosewood improves the sustain, tone and the look.  The dark satin finish of the rosewood is simply gorgeous and feels very nice to hold.

Kala have prempted that this is to be a very popular range have added more options than some of their other exotic combinations.  As well as standard Soprano, Concert and Tenor you will find a Concert Electro Cutaway (KA-SCRE-C), a Tenor Electro Cutaway (KA-STRE-C) and for all of you fans of it a Baritone model the (KA-SRB)

When pictures arrive from Kala, or the ukulele they will appear hear as will some recordings and more information.  Sorry for the time being we can’t tell you more.

Have you check our the news on the upcoming Bocote, Pacific Walnut and Spalted Maple Series?

The New Kala Spalted Maple Ukulele Series

£127.99 – £197.99  Arriving June 2012

New Kala Spalted Maple Ukulele Series

Spalting in maple is a natural pigmentation caused by different types of fungus. These fungi work their way into the wood and cause different shapes and marks to appear. Sounds gross huh?  Well maybe the thought of fungus growing in your ukulele is not very appealing now but when you see the results you will most certainly change your mind.  The spalted maple ukuleles are one of the most beautiful and each one is unique.

The tone of the spalted maple ukulele is like that of a spruce top.  It is loud, clear and crisp and is a great ukulele for singing with especially acoustically as it has the power to cut through the air and meet your voice. The spalted maple has a standard set of features across the range.  All models come fitted with Aquila Nylgut strings, have a rosewood fingerboard and chrome geared machine heads.  There is an electro-acoustic in the range in the guise of a tenor ukulele. Idential in spec to the KA-SMT the KA-SMTE comes fitted with a Kala brand pickup and chromatic tuner.  We have added the detailed spec and measurements of each uke to their product pages in our store.  As soon as the ukes arrive with us we shall get some great hi-res images and sound recordings of each ukulele up on the site.

These new maple ukuleles are due to hit the shores of the UK around the beginning of June.  There are a couple of each model arrive into us here at wmcmusic.  The good news is they are a stock item and there will be a continuous supply, to be the first to own one of these stunning instruments preorder one today and get yours before everybody else does.  These are gonna be popular!
